I enjoy the way it was explained how the material could be used on patrol and in everyday life. This course opened my eyes to see that you do not have to be a stern cop to get answers from someone. Being more relatable allows people to open up to you — you catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

I also found it very helpful that Perez was very patient and very willing to help writing the practice warrants. I really enjoyed Perez's positive attitude in teaching new officers like myself how to write a warrant effectively by using the Hobbs.

What I liked best was that while there was PowerPoint, it was used to foster discussions — not just to lecture from. The instructors have extensive knowledge, but it wasn't only filled with war stories — the stories told were relevant to the discussion at the time. While I felt I knew much of the material already, it helped me bring together what I know to use it better and more effectively. I learned new ideas and techniques to improve my investigations and interrogations.

After learning the process of an IA investigation, it was very helpful to hear from an attorney with many years of experience who represents LE officers in both criminal and administration investigations. After hearing from the Instructor, his portion of the class became paramount to understanding IA investigations from opposing sides.

Jason provided a lot of good information about financial crimes and all of the investigative steps to take to complete and present a thorough investigation. He did not rely on the slides to teach the material, which helped with retaining the information. The detailed explanations and case studies included were very helpful.

I really liked how he broke down the four priorities for responding to a critical incident, including the deployment considerations list. Great class — a lot of awesome info to share with my crew.
